    This is a research-intensive degree program, and one where you will learn the research and experimental design skills you’ll need to begin your own ground-breaking research and to explore your deeper scientific interests.

    This degree program is typified by very small cohort sizes and an excellent student-to instructor ratio. In fact, a typical year sees only 12-15 students studying directly under 6 members of the Psychology faculty.

    Learning And Teaching

    The University of Waterloo’s Psychology MSc program is delivered by the Department of Psychology, one of the most respected at the university. It is conveyed primarily through lectures, tutorials and seminars, though you will participate in skills workshops and special events as well. 

    All of Waterloo’s degree programs focus in ‘the three Es’, Education, Experience and Employment. They include extensive work based and co-operative education options which yield valuable hand-on experience and improve neatly any CV. 

    Career Possibilities

    This degree will prepare you well for a wide range of roles, or to take your academic career to the PhD level. Graduates have entered training programs for careers in Behavioural Science Technology, Communication Disorders, Corporate Communications and Public Relations, Marketing Management and Social Services roles. 

    UWaterloo Psychology students who do not become researchers have gone on to become Communication Sciences Specialists, Criminologists, Educators, Legal Professionals, Marriage and Family Therapists, Medical Professionals, Psychologists, Social Workers and Speech Pathologists.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 1-2 year MSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have completed an Honours Baccalaureate degree or the international equivalent. Great weight will be given to the GRE score as well.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
