    Course Summary

The Vancouver Film School (the VFS) offers a unique, intensive, 12 month diploma in Film Production. In addition to learning the producer’s craft, you’ll create a dazzling portfolio of your work.

This program will give you a basic instruction in each of the following five areas of Film Production expertise. However, you will select two of these options in which to delve much deeper later in the program. The specialty options are:

    • Cinematography
    • Directing
    • Post Production
    • Producing
    • Production Design

Note that like most of the Vancouver Film School’s course offerings, this is arranged as an intensive 1 year program. In addition to graduating with a professional diploma in your chosen field, you’ll gain important industry contacts and experience producing projects and assets in a realistic developmental schedule. You’ll also have created an extensive portfolio of your own work, which will be key to winning the most sought-after position upon graduating.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
