    Course Summary

The public may overlook the role of the writer in the media that they consume every day, but the industry does not! No feature films, television programs or even video games could be produced today without the skills of an expert writer.

VFS’s Writing for Film, Television and Games diploma program lets you chose one main specialisation – writing for games, writing for television or writing for the film industry – and create a final project within that specialty which they can use to show employers their skill and potential.

Note that like most of the Vancouver Film School’s course offerings, this is arranged as an intensive 1 year program. In addition to graduating with a professional diploma in your chosen field, you’ll gain important industry contacts and experience producing projects and assets in a realistic developmental schedule. You’ll also have created an extensive portfolio of your own work, which will be key to winning a good position upon graduating.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
