    Course Summary

Vancouver Island University BSc in Psychology is a great way to prepare yourself for an active academic, professional or scientific career as you explore the fascinating world of the human mind. This program features a heavy emphasis on the biological processes which underlay and affect psychological phenomena, especially the nervous system and disease agents.

This program can be taken as a Major or as a Minor in conjunction with a different degree. If you do opt for the Major program, you’ll be able to undertake an Undergraduate Research Project as the capstone of the program. This would consist of your own original research, conducted under the supervision of a Research Advisor with relevant expertise.

The university’s Psychological researchers work in close association with laboratories which specialise in video behavioural analysis, immunohistochemistry and electroencephalography. They are noted for their expertise in:

    • evolutionary psychology
    • learning and memory
    • neuropsychology and psychopharmacology
    • sensory physiology
    • sleep and biological rhythms
