    Course Summary

Computer Science is very lucrative career choice, and one which demands more qualified graduates every year than Canada’s universities can actually produce. By the time you graduate you’ll be able to analyse and resolve common computer problems, both in the consumer and business fields. More importantly, though, you’ll be able to design and modify software and software systems.

You’ll learn to work both individually and as part of a project team. You’ll gain the skills necessary to communicate effectively with specialists and with non-specialists alike. You’ll also learn how to stay at the cutting edge of your field of specialty. Finally you’ll have access to several co-operative education and professional experience programs.

Laurier’s BA in Computer science is designed to be a ‘second major’ taken in combination with another program. If you are interested in specialising in Computer Science on tis own, they also offer a 4 year BSc in computer science.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
