    Course Summary

    Computer Engineering sometimes seems to underlie everything in the modern world. The obvious applications of computers like self-driving cars and navigation systems, mobile phones and communications, robots and entertainment systems rely on computer engineers to make them happen, but so do the agricultural, manufacturing, construction and even energy production industries.  

    York University’s Computer Engineering BEng program will prepare you to apply basic engineering and design principles to the unique challenges of developing computer software and hardware systems. It will also show you how to keep your understanding of this rapidly advancing field current, keeping you employable for your entire career.

     You can select your own specialty by taking different optional modules. You can also engage in a co-operative or experiential learning program after the second year of the program, which will give you vital real-world experience.

    This program is fully accredited by the CEAB (the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board) and will set you well on your way toward Professional Engineer status.

    Learning And Teaching

    York University strives to use both traditional and innovative techniques in its undergraduate programs. You’ll attend large lecture classes, but also laboratories and/or practical skills sessions, problem solving exercises, and interactive, small scale tutorial sessions. These can be supplemented by additional learning support provided by Bethune College. 

    The Lassonde School of Engineering also offers numerous co-op programs, an entrepreneurship incubator and mentorship options. Study Abroad and Student Exchange options may also be available.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 4 year BA degree.

    To enter York University’s Computer Engineering BEng program, you’ll need to present your High School Transcripts, International Baccalaureate or similar international qualifications. These qualifications should include higher level physics, chemistry and maths. 

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
