    Course Summary

As the effects of climate change become ever more pronounced and threatening to human society, Environmental Science is more relevant than ever to almost every industry and field of study. This program will equip you with a solid understanding of the factors that affect the environment. It will also teach you to use modern scientific principles to address the problems that environmental degradation can cause, and perhaps offer innovative, practical solutions to them.

York University’s Environmental Science program includes a Research Design and Field Study component which will make you familiar with the physical equipment and intellectual procedures of this exciting and important field.

You can further specialise your degree by taking different optional modules, and co-operative opportunities are available within Canada or greater North America as well. These will be equally useful whether you intend to pursue an academic career at the MSc or PhD level, or whether you prefer to transition directly into the job market.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
