    Course Summary

York University’s Schulich School of Business offers a very well-respected Master of Management (MMgt) degree. It is intended for students with little or no working experience or previous business education. If you do hold a previous business degree or certification (including a BAcc, HBA, BMOS, BCom, BAS, BBA, or similar), you will not be eligible to enter the MMgt program.

If you have one of these qualifications, you may instead gather a few years of working experience and enter the Schulich Business School’s MBA program. Depending on your level of qualification, you may be able to enter with advanced standing.

You can further specialise your degree by taking different optional modules, and co-operative opportunities are available within Canada or greater North America as well. These will be equally useful whether you intend to pursue an academic career at the Research Degree level, whether you’d prefer to pursue professional certification, or whether you prefer to transition directly into the job market.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    Learning And Teaching
