The University of West London began as the Lady Byron School 1860 when Queen Charlotte’s College of Health Care Studies, the London College of Music, the Thames Valley College of Higher education and the Ealing College of Higher Education merged. Though the school, its student population and its portfolio grew, it retained the name of Lady Byron for more than 100 years, becoming the Polytechnic of West London.
It officially became a full university in 1993, and adopted the name Thames Valley University. Reading College split off from the university in 2010, and it changed its name to the University of West London in 2011.
The University of West London today is enjoying a recent £150 million upgrade to its Ealing campus. It is dedicated to the values of Accessibility, Affordability, Diversity, Transparency and Accountability. It is their declared mission to improve themselves as a university of quality, offering all of its students a career-focused, professionally engaged modern education.
