Like all healthcare and research roles, clinical biochemistry requires its students to have a firm foundation in the biomedical sciences in order to thrive

What does this book cover?

The revised 2nd edition of Clinical Biochemistry is an important part of the Fundamentals of Biomedical Science series. Just like the rest of the series, this book conveys the essentials of the sciences which underlie clinical biochemistry. It also provides the kind of vital laboratory and practice skills you’ll need to really thrive in this field.

Clinical Biochemistry covers topics like:

  • Understanding the disease process at the biochemical level
  • How a biomedical technician can investigate the nature, vectors and treatment of a disease
  • Understanding diseases and their diagnosis via expanded clinical case studies
  • Grounding theoretical knowledge in actual practice

About the Authors

Dr Nessar Ahmed teaches at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he holds the post of Reader in Clinical Biochemistry. He specialises in diabetes, looking mostly at protein glycation. However, he teaches classes in analytical science, endocrinology and clinical biochemistry as well.

In the 2nd edition of Clinical Biochemistry (Fundamentals of Biomedical Science), he delivers a great first text for students planning on specialising in this field, as well as for anyone whose work requires biochemical knowledge.
