The SI edition of Essentials of Materials Science & Engineering can show you the way the properties, processing and essential structure of materials interact.

What does this book cover?

This classic 2013 edition of Essentials of Materials Science & Engineering looks at all of the properties that characterise common engineering materials, at the way different materials are grouped, and at what makes particular materials good choices for different structural, functional or mechanical roles. It is an excellent choice for a textbook to an introductory level course on materials science.

Essentials of Materials Science & Engineering, SI Edition is a practical guide to:

  • The properties and behaviours of different engineering materials
  • How the atomic structures of these materials give rise to their unique properties
  • How to deal with the ‘materials issues’ that you will inevitably face in academia or industry
