This updated and revised 4th edition of Principles of Animal Behavior delivers an eminently readable and comprehensible summary of the science of animal behaviour. It does an excellent job of conveying both broad theory and the empirical data which informs it. This will quickly become just as much of a favourite among students and educators as the first three editions were, in their turns.

The revised fourth edition also contains:

  • An emphasis on the three methods of behavioural acquisition – natural selection, cultural transmission and individual learning
  • Cognitive Connection sidebars that emphasise the cognitive aspects of the behaviours discussed
  • References to the latest and most exciting work being done in this fast-moving field
