Law

Each nation has its own legal system and a formal process whereby students can become qualified to act as lawyers, solicitors, barristers and other ‘agents of the courts’. A qualifying law degree typically coveys professional certification or makes a student eligible to seek that professional certification from a ‘Bar Association’ or similar professional body.

A legal education typically consists of training in the interpretation of written laws, the application of precedent – that is, prior binding decisions of courts of law – and the policies of governments or other ruling bodies. Each country defines a specific set of subjects which must be covered, at a minimum, to qualify for professional status.
